Gathering Wool

You may have noticed that it has been awhile since my last blog.  Like most of you, I was busy dealing with the holidays.  Unlike most of you, I actually was an elf, but that’s another story. Today I share with you some of the useless bits of information that I’ve managed to gather over the last couple of months.  Feel free to share.

The peanut-head bug lives in South America and carries its stomach in its head, a fact which helps to account for its strange appearance. Mark Twain is a steamboat term called out by the leadsman to indicate that the water is twelve feet deep and therefore safe for passage.  Composers compose and dead composers decompose. ESPN sponsors a Couch Potato Championship, and the same man has won for the last two years. He’s a reference librarian. Piblikoto is the Inuit term for craziness.  A flamingo flutes, but I definitely cannot. I could go on, but I dare say that now you know the truth about librarians.  We are not only full of useless bits of information, but also experience piblikoto on a regular basis.

Dear Loopy – Ewwwwww on the Peanut-head bug. I’m so glad we live in Georgia!! Your reporting is better than Fox News….Where do you find this stuff! You are the smartest person I know, and when I grow up I want to be just like you!
