Fun is an Attitude

I have a new job in Administration. I thought it would be a dry and humorless job filled with endless paperwork, and, to be honest it sometimes is.  I write and review policies, apply for grants, deal with personnel issues and patron complaints. When I first learned of my new job responsibilities, I kept listening for the fun part. It didn’t come. No more silly hats, knock-knock jokes, or playtime cleverly disguised as work. But I wasn’t long settled into my new office when I was hit in the head with a Nerf ball…thrown by my boss. Riley, a friendly boxer belonging to my boss, often hangs out in the Administrative wing and pops into my office to say hello. We also have two cats in residence, one of whom, Sherlock, seems to find great joy in pouncing on my papers and shuffling them for me. I had feared that when I left the Children’s department for a “grown-up” job, I would leave all the fun and joy behind as well. Happily, I was wrong. Now if only Sherlock would tell me what he did with my pen.

    Hey Allie,
Sounds nifty that they have a dog &two cats at work. I only thought they had visiting animals like that at nursing homes to cheer up the residents. :)
