Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray
My review: 5 of 5 stars
I’m not normally a fan of science fiction, but give me a gripping story and interesting characters and I’ll get on board. Defy the Stars is the beginning of a promising new series featuring a future Earth that is in bad shape and in conflict with several colonized planets. Artificial intelligence has been developed to an astonishing degree, and mechanized beings with human appearances are utilized in many facets of life.
Noemi Vidal, a soldier on the colonized planet of Genesis, finds herself dealing with Abel, a mechanized being from Earth, her enemy. The relationship that develops is complex and fascinating. The story is action-packed, fast-paced and often funny. Defy the Stars is also smart, romantic, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking. Highly recommended for fans of Young Adult Science Fiction.
