Leaf and the Rushing Waters (Twig Stories Book 1) by Jo Marshall
My Review: 4 of 5 stars
This Twig story grabs the reader immediately with impending danger for animals in peril on a glacier. The mischievous impish characters appeal to young readers because of their adventurous ways and mischievousness. Middle grade vocabulary and themes are appropriate and educational. The story entertains while it enlightens children about climate change. Personification of wildlife help establish more empathy from young readers. While a bit more editing might be beneficial, doses of humor and well-crafted characters combine with action and adventure creating a series easy to recommend.
