The Likeness by Tana French
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Brilliant mystery and suspense! The storyline is inventive and captivating. The characters have depth and come to life on the page. French has a magnificent way with words, deftly painting images fraught with tension. I also appreciated the snarky humor and authentic Irish dialogue. A compulsively readable novel.

“The room had a schizophrenic, dreamlike look, some lost store-cupboard of the mind…” (p. 128).
“…nothing takes as much work as effortlessness” (p. 180).
