This Father’s Day was the first one for my son-in-law. His son, my grandson, is 4 months old. It isn’t easy to find a book that focuses on a father’s love for his son. Most seem to focus on mothers. I found that If My Love Were a Fire Truck was a perfect gift for Father’s Day. The text is heartfelt and gently rhymed. The illustrations are bold, bright, colorful and appealing to little boys. Even at only four-months-old, my grandson enjoyed the pictures as he sat in his daddy’s lap to hear the story. I hope and expect that my son-in-law and his son will enjoy many readings of If My Love Were a Fire Truck. I highly recommend it for dads looking for stories to read to their young sons.
