If you saw my review of Water for Elephants on January 11, then you know that I’m a big fan. My teenage daughter recently read it too (I think because she saw that Robert Pattinson was going to star in the film). In any case, she devoured the book in one sitting. Then a friend of mine asked for a book recommendation, so I immediately lent her my copy of Water for Elephants. She was supposed to read it while she was working out, but she never got that far. She read it cover to cover on the very day that I gave it her. Now all three of us are eagerly awaiting the movie’s release on April 22nd. Equally exciting is that Algonquin Books is hosting a live webcast on April 26 where Sara Gruen will be interviewed about the book. If it’s anything like the Julia Alvarez interview, it will be well worth watching. Not to mention, I expect signed copies of the book to be on sale after the webcast. Julia signed her book In the Time of the Butterflies to me. Great book too, by the way. So if you want to know what all the buzz is about….read the book!
