One of my assistants has spent the better part of a week digging around in her basement, rummaging through boxes of flotsam and jetsam in search of a missing set of dentures. Why? Because I mentioned that I was doing a story-time about teeth and would be reading a story about a grandfather who awakens one morning to discover his teeth are missing! (Grandpa’s Teeth by Rod Clement) Did my assistant suddenly confuse reality with fiction? No. She did however get very excited at the prospect of finally finding a use for the old set of teeth that her mother refused to discard (just in case). Unfortunately, the missing teeth never turned up. Maybe life imitated art and the dog ran off with them. In any case, I’ve learned that if I need anything for story-time, I’ll just ask my assistant. Chances are she has it in her basement somewhere…if she can find it.

That book is SO much fun to read out loud!
